Florianópolis Cultural Marathon 2024: One of the most important events in the city's cultural calendar

The 10th edition of the Florianópolis Cultural Marathon promises to be a grand event to celebrate the city's anniversary 🎉. In other words, moving the entire capital of Santa Catarina between the 22nd and 24th of March. With an entirely free, there will be 379 cultural attractions spread across 15 neighborhoods in the city.

National and Regional Shows

One of the highlights of the Marathon will be the national and regional shows, which will provide unforgettable moments for music lovers. Therefore, among the highlights, we will have performances by renowned artists such as Pitty, Boogarins, Pato Fu and Maria Rita.

Quality Theater

For fans of the performing arts, the Marathon will offer high-level theater performances. Therefore, be sure to check out the award-winning show “While you flew, I created roots”, by the French-Brazilian company Dos à Deux, and “Virginia”, starring the talented actress Claudia Abreu. The presentations will take place on the prestigious stage of the Ademir Rosa Theater at the Integrated Culture Center (CIC).

Tickets and Access to Performances

To guarantee your place at the presentations, tickets will be available in advance through the Sympla website. This way, it will be possible to purchase one voucher per person from 10 am on the day before the desired session. Vouchers must be exchanged for tickets at the CIC, on the day of the performance, from 12pm until one and a half hours before the start of the show. As well, half of the tickets will also be made available at the event box office, one hour before the start of the performance.

Tribute to Eli Heil

One of the great tributes of this edition will be to the artist Eli Heil, an important figure in Santa Catarina culture. Therefore, he left an incredible legacy with more than 2,500 works, including paintings, sculptures and writings. His work inspired this year’s slogan: “Art for all the senses.” During the event, it will be possible to enjoy some of his works, such as “I'm flying”, “Playing with wheels and wheels”, “Minha alma”, “Mancha Vivente” and “Iemanjá”.

Quick biography of Eli Heil, artist from Santa Catarina

Self-taught, Eli Heil was born in Palhoça in 1929 and became a physical education teacher. However, from the 60s onwards, his artistic identity awakened. In other words, in his own words, “art is the expulsion of contained, painful beings, in large quantities, in a colorful birth”. As a result, his creativity transcended classifications. Therefore, she was invited to the 16th São Paulo International Biennial, her unusual work caused a stir, registered in the official catalogue.

Eli Heil's museum in Santo Antônio de Lisboa

On the banks of SC-401, in Florianópolis, specifically in Saint Anthony of Lisbon, Eli built his universe: The Egg World Museum by Eli Heil, with more than 3 thousand works. Currently maintained by the artist's children.

At the age of 85, in 2014, MASC hosted Eli's last solo exhibition, a retrospective of more than five decades of production. As well, the relationship between Eli and MASC was long-lasting, with 14 solo exhibitions. In the 1960s, MAMF, the precursor of MASC, emerged. Therefore, Eli exhibited under the curatorship of Ylmar Corrêa Neto and Adriano Pauli. MASC, which celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2018, is one of Eli's many artistic legacies. His work is unique and transcends symbols, reflecting his spirituality.
