Investments in SC 401, the State Highway with the Most Traffic in Santa Catarina
The Santa Catarina State Government announced a significant investment in SC-401, the state's busiest state highway. The projected investment is expected to exceed R$16T 73 million, aiming to improve the highway's infrastructure and capacity, which currently carries approximately 80,000 vehicles per day.



Estrada Boa Program: Improvement and Expansion of the Capacity of SC-401
The improvement project is part of the program Good Road and its main focus is the most urbanized section of the highway, between the access to the neighborhood Cacupé and the neighborhood John Paul (km 12 to km 19). This will involve interventions along 6.59 km, including the implementation of a third lane on both sides of the road. Additionally, a 1.66 km right-hand sidewalk and a 2.48 km left-hand sidewalk and cycle path will be added in both directions.
According to Carlos Campos, project director at the State Secretariat of Infrastructure and Mobility, "The SC-401 is our main state highway, and it's saturated. A third lane will be built in both directions. The idea is to separate local traffic from commercial traffic using the side streets. A bike path, sidewalk, and three flyovers are also planned. An interchange would interfere with the highway's capacity. So we'll remove all that traffic with the three flyovers."

Section between km 12 and km 19
Improvements to the most urbanized section of SC-401 include:
- Third lane implementation: In both directions of the highway to increase traffic capacity and reduce congestion.
- Right marginal street with sidewalk: A total of 1.66 km, providing greater safety and fluidity for local traffic.
- Left marginal street with sidewalk and cycle path: At 2.48 km long, this route will offer greater safety for pedestrians and cyclists, promoting the use of sustainable means of transport.
Elevated Return at km 13
One of the most anticipated interventions by the community is the construction of a turnaround with an elevated passage at km 13, allowing access to the Caminho dos Açores and significantly improving the flow of vehicles in this section.
Roundabout at the Access to the Cacupé Neighborhood at km 14
For access to the neighborhood Cacupé, a roundabout will be implemented at km 14. This improvement aims to provide safer and more efficient movement for residents and visitors to the neighborhood.
Changes at km 16 – Monte Verde Neighborhood and Floripa Shopping
At km 16, a change will be made to access to the Monte Verde neighborhood and Floripa Shopping mall. The change will include improving safety at the location by adjusting the left side of the highway to facilitate access to local businesses and the exit from the existing side street.
