CASACOR SC 2021

“The original house”
One theme, and infinite interpretations…

In these times of isolation, changes were rapid across the world, with immediate impacts on the real estate and interiors market.

The house gained a new status. Never has he spent so much time in the confines of his playpen. And that's why more is invested in housing.

In this context, the reopening of Casa Cor is seen with euphoria by the public. Spending on travel, for example, goes back to the home.

And the public needs references, information.

What to Buy ? Casa Cor is a showcase of products and services in the sector. And the event exhibitor is an opinion leader.

The “revision” of behavior patterns, brought about by the period of isolation, gave rise to new habits. Contact with nature has become essential. Biophilia is a strong trend. A house that provides sensory experiences. Therein lies the new concept of luxury. Plants and natural materials with an emphasis on wood and stones are present in this setting. The touch of textures, good cotton for example, the smell of plants and flowers, feeling the breeze passing through, enjoying the natural light passing through the openings... you can see all of this at Casa Cor.

BRAZILITY AT CASACOR SC 2021

The rescue of Brazilianness and affective memories is another aspect of the event. National crafts, straw, basketry, crochet, ceramics and earthy tones appear strongly.

On a walk through the exhibition, some environments reminded me of the house of that big university uncle from the 80s who was a bit of a hippie/socialist (and who didn't have an uncle like that?) others bring back the atmosphere of grandma's house.

Taste is not up for debate (as the fan of catupiry chicken sushi said), but here and there I felt a bit of a “force bar” atmosphere in the retro.

Very calm at this time. Eminent risk of leaving the house looking like a northeastern crafts fair. Do you like earthy tones? Yes, they are on the rise. Paint the walls, it's cheap. Buy a clay filter, it's cheap, ecological and they say it's also healthy.

Anyway, I don't want to be biased, but betting too many chips on the trend of the moment is risky! I say this with the support of more than 20 years of closely following and reporting on sector news in projects and events. Some trends are so volatile that they don't last a season.

FINALIZING ABOUT CASACOR SC 2021

Balance, plurality and a certain conservative sense give great chances of extending the shelf life of an interior project. Look, I'm here recommending caution again... it's the maturity acquired over the years (in addition to being a journalist, I'm a consumer of architecture and design, addicted to work).

Not eight, not eighty. You need to reinvent yourself. The originality makes the eye shine. On the other hand, there is no need to reinvent the wheel. Does talking about mixing rustic and contemporary, new and old seem like a tired text? (A director at Band TV always played with this recurring text of mine) . What is certain is that those who mix styles tend to find the path to timelessness.
