TAP Air Portugal: Floripa to have Direct Flights to Europe 3 times a Week

After the resumption of negotiations between the Government of Santa Catarina and the TAP Air Portugal, the agreement was closed for flights between Lisbon and FlorianópolisThis achievement represents a significant milestone in Florianópolis' international connections, reinforcing the city's importance in the global tourism and business landscape.

Start of Regular Flights

Starting in September of this year, TAP Air Portugal will offer three weekly flights, landing and departing from Florianópolis International Airport, also known as Floripa Airport. This new service will be operated using the Airbus A330-200 aircraft, capable of carrying 269 passengers, 244 in Economy Class and 25 in Business Class. Flights will begin on September 3rd, ushering in a new era of connectivity between Santa Catarina and Europe.

Hours and Days of Operation

First, flights between Florianópolis and Lisbon will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. These days are designed to provide greater flexibility and convenience for passengers, allowing for multiple connecting options to various destinations in Europe. This service not only facilitates international mobility but also boosts tourism and business in Santa Catarina.

Strategic Importance of Florianópolis

The selection of Florianópolis as TAP's 12th destination in Brazil highlights the city's strategic position on the global aviation map. This new route will allow TAP to continue developing its diversification strategy in the Brazilian market, which is the airline's most important market. Furthermore, it reinforces Portugal's geographic advantage as a gateway to more than 50 European destinations.

Economic and Tourist Benefits

Beto Martins, Secretary of Ports, Airports, and Railways (SPAF), emphasized that the joint actions will allow TAP to sell tickets throughout Europe, increasing the state's international connections. This will provide Santa Catarina with new connections to North America in addition to Europe, further expanding business and tourism opportunities.

Luis Rodrigues, CEO of TAP, emphasized that the launch of the flight to the state of Santa Catarina had been under consideration and consideration for some time.
