Two years ago, in September 2021, the National Immigration Council, of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, created a specific visa for digital nomads. The regulation, implemented in January last year, aims to attract qualified labor and investments to Brazil. The residence permit allows stays of up to one year, extendable for another year, for foreigners who prove remote activity and a salary of at least US$ 1.5 thousand per month or reservations from US$ 18 thousand.
Since the beginning of this migration policy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued 649 visas to digital nomads. Among the most present nationalities are Americans, Germans, English, French and Swiss. Last year saw almost one visa of this type approved per day.
