Paradigma Cine Arte, located in the Santo Ant\u00f4nio de Lisboa neighborhood in the north of Florian\u00f3polis Island, is the only cinema in the city dedicated exclusively to screening alternative films. Founded by the Didone family, Paradigma Cine Arte was born out of coincidence. While building a project in the Corporate Park Business Center on SC-401, the family realized the potential of a charming, well-sounded auditorium that was being underutilized.

Felipe Didone, the cinema's director and curator, decided to transform the space into a curated cinema, focusing on films of high artistic and cultural quality, moving away from Hollywood productions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Felipe, the cinema project has always had a cultural and non-profit nature, functioning as a sideline. Currently, Paradigma is responsible for bringing to Florian\u00f3polis a selection of films that would otherwise be difficult to screen elsewhere, providing an alternative to commercial cinema and attracting a diverse audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Curating the Paradigm: An Exclusive Look at Alternative Films<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Paradigma Cine Arte's curation is incredible, current, and intelligent. It's personally curated by Felipe Didone, who stays up-to-date on film releases and trends by attending international festivals like the Berlin Film Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the year, he monitors the release calendar and carefully studies each work to choose those titles that deserve space in Paradigma. "If I had more theaters, I'd be filling them with people. There are many good films in European, Latin American, and Asian productions."<\/em>, comments Felipe, about the richness of the film scene outside the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cinema screens films from different countries and genres weekly, ensuring a varied program. On a typical week, for example, you can watch Italian films, as well as Brazilian and French films, all carefully selected to provide an enriching cinematic experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, Paradigma strives to offer a diverse program, alternating between productions that include works by European, Asian, and Latin American filmmakers, often with titles exclusive to the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paradigma Cine Arte is proud to be the only venue in Florian\u00f3polis that screens titles like "Ervas Secas," a Turkish film that won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. According to Felipe, these films are selected despite knowing the potential financial return, as he believes they hold inestimable cultural value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

"Who's going to show a three-hour Turkish film? I feel like I have to get it, after all, it's a film a moviegoer will want to watch in a theater, not at home."<\/em>, explained Felipe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This commitment to alternative cinema is reinforced by the resistance to giving in to the appeal of blockbusters and superhero films, common in large shopping malls and commercial cinemas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead, Paradigma invests in exclusive curation and works that are often overlooked by large cinema chains, but which have great cultural appeal and value for film-loving audiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paradigma Cine Arte's audience is diverse and goes beyond hardcore movie buffs. During the Varilux Festival week, the Cine Art Paradigm<\/strong> is stepping up its screenings with a special program that includes six daily screenings, starting at 9 a.m. This initiative reflects the cinema's commitment to offering a rich and varied program, featuring French and international films that highlight the cultural and artistic diversity of world cinema. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
