Itaú BBA Ironman Brasil, 22nd edition in Jurerê, Florianópolis
Currently, the best of national and international long-distance triathlon will be gathered in Jurerê Internacional this week. In other words, the reason for this is the 22nd edition of the Itaú BBA Ironman Brasil, the most important and traditional endurance competition in the country. Therefore, check the schedule and changes in traffic.
Professional and amateur triathletes from 33 countries will participate in the race on May 19th, starting at 6:30 am, facing the challenge of 3.9 km of swimming, 180km cycling It is 41.2 km run. The finish will again be at Clube Doze de Agosto, while the Ironman Village will be at P12 Parador (P12).
History and Growth of Ironman Brazil
The growth of Ironman in the country is directly linked to the race in Jurerê Internacional. After all, it was there that the competition gained strength and fans, going from just over 200 competitors in the first edition to more than 1700 in recent editions, attracting athletes from different parts of the world. Therefore, in addition to the benefits for the region, the event highlighted a greater number of national competitors.
Big Names at Itaú BBA Ironman Brasil 22nd Edition
For this 22nd edition, Itaú BBA Ironman Brasil continues to attract big names in triathlon. Therefore, the competition will feature four previous winners. Therefore, in the Men's category, the Brazilians Igor Amorelli, winner in 2014, and Reinaldo Colucci, champion in 2022 and runner-up in 2023, stand out. As well as the Argentine Luciano Taccone, current champion, will also be present in search of his second title. Other prominent athletes include Fernando Toldi, Luis Ohde, Rafael Pires, Thiago Vinhal, Vinícius Canhedo and Mexican Rodrigo Romero.
In the Women's category, the competition promises to be equally fierce. Pâmella Oliveira, two-time champion in Jurerê Internacional, is one of my favorites. Other Brazilians competing are Mariana Borges de Andrade, second place last year, Bruna Stolf and Fernanda Penkal. Among the foreigners, Chilean Pamela Tastets and Australian Renne Kiley stand out.

Qualifying for the Ironman World Championship
The step in Jurerê Internacional will be worth points for Ironman World Championship 2024, which will have the women's race in Nice, France, and the men's race in Kona, Hawaii. As well as, in the Age Group category, 60 athletes will be classified, 25 men and 35 women. For professionals, four places will be up for grabs, two for men and two for women.
Itaú BBA IRONKIDS Brazil
The programming in Jurerê Internacional will include the second stage of Itaú BBA IRONKIDS Brazil, an event aimed at children aged 2 to 12. In this way, promoting inclusion in sport and values such as tolerance, respect and unity. Therefore, the event will take place on Saturday, May 18th, starting at 8am, at Clube 12 de Agosto. As well, the official opening of the stage will be on the 15th, with the start of IRONMAN Village activities and the delivery of kits.
